(b. 1973 Reading) Hannah Thomas is a painter, she graduated from University of the West of England with a BA hons in Art and Visual Culture in 2000. Initially pursuing a career as a professional photographer she lived and worked in London for over a decade, mostly working within the music industry for heavy rock/metal publications, festivals and bands.

Hannah moved into painting as her chosen medium in 2019, after leaving London and finding her relationship to professional photography jaded and lacking in immediacy and tactility. Allowing for absolute autonomy and creative freedom, she embraced an immediately energising and viscerally stimulating connection to paint and the life of the artist in the studio and is now committed to it full-time.

Early in 2024, she had a solo show with Red Eight Gallery in London and more recently has been included in group shows with Shoreditch Modern gallery and Linden Hall Studios. She has also been included in shows with AucArt, SOTA, Candid Arts Trust and Visual Artists Association. She has recently been longlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize 2024 and completed the Turps Correspondence Course (with Turps Art School, London) in June 2024 which provides mentoring and feedback to assist in the progression of artists’ studio practice.

Her work is included in private and corporate collections in the UK and Internationally. She is currently based in Wiltshire, UK.
